 American Beach is sandwiched between two great white powers, Amelia Island Plantation and Fernandina Beach Ritz Carlton. Since the 1970's there has been statements from Amelia Island Plantation (A.I.P) in promises that they would one day own and control The African American Beach, founded in 1935 By A.L. Lewis, who became the first Black Man in Florida to make a million dollars - also he founded the first life insurance company in the state black or white. The island was a border province, and Fernandina a gateway port between deep water and backwater, antithetical realms. In recent years, prominent residents have been investigated for contract fraud and political graft and arrested for drug trafficking. Russ Rymer writes, "local shrimpers speak of hauls of 'square lobster' meaning bales of marijuana." The island was a depot for gunrunning during the Spanish-American war and again, it is rumored, during the Reagan administration's war against the Sandinistas. The CIA, is also rumored, maintains a presence on the island in the form of a hangar in a field near the two-strip airport and will occasionally send an "engineer" or "designer" fresh from Tibet or Afghanistan, who spends his mysterious days alone in the hangar and pays his monthly lodging from a Halliburton case full of cash."  The town of American Beach was built by the ocean that black people enjoy for in those days blacks were not allowed the white beaches-from the days of Cab Calloway to 95 South and 69 Boys young and old traveled to American beach from as far away north as Maine and all around like birds flying south in the winter. Every Sunday over two thousand would align the streets and the Morgan Family Parking lot, which has become rather famous over the years. A movie was shot there and some very famous black stars appeared in it. The crowds do not come here any more due to the wars we have been loosing with the Nassau County "Storm troopers" i.e. the police who were ordered to put up roadblock as far away as Jacksonville to hinder the progress of black unity on the beach. One Sunday about three years ago the Observer covered a story where the view was right out of a 1960's Civil rights demonstration. There were "iron birds" in the air police and dogs from nine counties - but they say it was the fault of black youth in a "freaknic" mode. The local bar was closed down, the owner was fined for serving to ones under age and under cover, you know how that goes.   We have found out that Amelia Island Plantation will do any thing to take the beach. The latest invention is the Puppet American Beach development corporation, a group of black women trying to get city water on the beach - which is really the heart of our topic here. Since 1935, American Beach has been on a well water system - a few houses like the little beach house the Observer resides has its own private pump. About twenty-five other houses are control by the main well pump/system. American Beach Villas FL12454347, maintained by Mr. Bobbie Donaldson and his wife, who own American Beach Villas the only hotel-motel or business on the beach. He was told by some part of the local government that since he served the public he would have to add a certain amount of chlorine to the water supply. I have noticed that over the years he would ride around in his old van and would be seen outside our house digging and doing things, which was strange to us. We would notice that at time we would smell chlorine in the water along with the sometimes normal odor of sulfur--now think about this readers? If you would have a well would not the water be natural and clean and the reason the government say they put chlorine in public water is to kill bacteria caused by unclean recycled water. The government just this year has agreed or forced to cut back on the amounts of Arsenic placed in public water systems; now just think if Bobbie placed chlorine in our clean water and also Arsenic then he has been made party to the slow if not instant poisoning of his own community. I have requested some information from the EPA and have received it and will be testing the local water system American Beach Villas FL12454347 to find out just what is the current state of our water is here on American Beach...we will publish our findings soon. They are now trying to place us on public water system that big business i.e. white business can come in and do what they call through American Beach Development Corporation, develop Historic African American Beach. We will also publish soon the effects of chlorine and arsenic in water etc. and our findings.
